This album of original music follows in the conceptual vein of Jeff & Mister Vol. 1 released in 2019. In releasing this collection of recordings I aim to accurately represent the sound myself and Jeff produce when we combine our musical forces. We are both self employed rural musicians who are often forced to produce our music with limited resources. Therefore the music we create is both rustic and utilitarian. Our music is informed by the structure of country/western and blues traditional folk songs while incorporating improvised verses in the vein of Finnish and Celtic traditional folk poetry as well as hip-hop. I see the repetitions of our blues jams as akin to the minimalism of composers like Górecki and Reich.
We try to keep our jams flowing like the syrup in spring and our rhythms hard as frozen tree bark. For true unbridled art to flourish it needs a gentle fence to contain a wild spirit.
We hope this small collection of impromptus can spark your curiosity and inspire some creative fire.
